Youth Baseball Staff and Instructors

Cleveland native and former big leaguer Matt Kata is in his second year as the manager of youth baseball development. He'll lead the instruction at the 2015 Indians Youth Baseball Summer Camps along with an experienced, professional staff.

Kata, who had his best season in 2003 with the Arizona Diamondbacks, says that his big league dreams started on the little league fields in Cleveland. He credits his development to the mentors and coaches he had growing up, and is excited to now have the opportunity to positively impact the players of tomorrow. Read an interview with Kata in which he talks about the importance of youth instruction.

Kata leads a trained and knowledgeable staff at each camp. They are as passionate and energetic as they are experienced. All staff members participate in Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) workshops and are CPR/First Aid trained and certified.

Testimonials

Simplifying the Process (baseball development):

"Coach Kata and his staff did a great job of positive reinforcement while, at that same time, keeping the kids in line and engaged in the process. Most importantly, they promoted having a great attitude and having fun." - Avon

"I loved the fact that my nephew walked away from this experience with the tools to help him advance his game and the foundation for being a true team player." - Mentor

"Youngest son's baseball coach noticed a difference in play and skill after he attended camp. I was glad to have the experience for my sons. There is an attitude in youth sports right now that if you don't do travel you don't get much instructional coaching, this camp proved different." - Mentor

Igniting Passion for the Game:

"They loved have a "team/group" all week with the same awesome coaches. They were so excited to go to camp every day. They always said they had so much fun and I could tell they learned a lot...about baseball and being a good teammate and person." - Avon

"My son started talking about wanting to do this again next year on the last day of camp and reminds me every day. I highly recommend this camp to anyone who has the love for baseball as my son does. Thank you coaches and I can't wait to have my son be part of it again next year. This camp has even helped my daughter with her softball team." - Avon

Building Character:

"He goes to camp excited and leaves camp with a smile on his face because he had another great day. The ACE award is inspiring to my son to work hard while having a good attitude and to help his teammates to do the same. Thank you so much Coach Kata and to the rest of your coaches! You have done a wonderful job! " - Twinsburg

"Teaching not only fundamentals but the importance of controlling the things we can control, our "ACE", mindset." - Twinsburg

Overall Experience (organization, etc.):

"I loved that there was consistency from day to day and fundamentals were built upon. I loved how organized it was and how professional and passionate the coaches were. They were all excellent role models for the kids. I loved that the "Vitamins", "Roots" and "ACE" lessons were really a focus of the camp." - Independence

"The Indians Youth Baseball program is an all around wonderful experience for children. The organization, structure and routine for the week is what the children need. Since is our third year in the program I share with all of our friends what an amazing experience the camp is and how much the staff invests and cares for the children who attend. -THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! " - Independence

"This is our third year with the Indians organization and each year it keeps getting better and better. Coach Matt Kata and his staff are wonderful, approachable and personable. Just keep doing what you are doing." - Progressive Field of Dreams

"All of the coaches were amazing with the children. They kept them motivated and engaged the whole week. The program also allowed the kids to have fun while introducing them to some new concepts." - Strongsville
