Indians and Blue Jackets announce marketing alliance08/18/2009 11:55 AM ET
CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians and Columbus Blue Jackets today announced they are joining forces to form a marketing alliance to engage Ohio sports fans with the opportunity to experience Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League.
The basis behind this marketing partnership is to do the following:
• Share advertising and hospitality elements
• Provide ticket offers and opportunities to each team's fan base
• In-ballpark/arena presence at each team's venue for select games
• Media Exposure across broadcast partner channels
With the Columbus Blue Jackets season approaching, the Indians and Jackets have already committed to Blue Jackets Hockey To Go, presented by Medical Mutual of Ohio, making a visit to Progressive Field as part of the Tribe's KeyBank Kids Fun Day on Sunday, August 23 prior to the Indians vs. Mariners game at 1:05PM. This mobile Blue Jackets exhibit will include giveaways and interactive games. Also on the schedule is 2009 NHL Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-Star Steve Mason making an appearance at Progressive Field Sept. 6 vs. Minnesota Twins, including a ceremonial first pitch, Indians Signature Sunday autograph appearance with KeyBank High Achievers Kids Club members pregame and broadcast booth visits. The Indians plan on having a presence at Nationwide Arena during the Jackets season prior to the Tribe's 2010 campaign.
"Our new partnership with the Blue Jackets is just another example of two organizations taking a creative approach in marketing the product of professional sports entertainment within the same region," said Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Vic Gregovits. "We hope to take advantage of the marketing channels we each possess to regionalize our respective products. We are excited about expanding our alliances among professional sports teams to include the Columbus Blue Jackets and thank them for their participation."
