The Detroit Tigers Foundation

The Detroit Tigers organization, its owners, management, players and coaches are committed to providing a caring, enduring presence in our community and believe in the need to invest in our community's future.

The mission of the Detroit Tigers Foundation is to use the game of baseball to enhance the quality of life in our community with a focus on youth, education and recreation. The Detroit Tigers Foundation will aid in the development and funding of innovative programs, including field renovation projects, that reach our community with positive messages and promote the good citizenship embodied in the storied history of the Tigers.


Events and Programs

5th Annual Keeping Kids in the Game

Join host Miguel Cabrera and members of the 2013 Detroit Tigers on Monday, August 19 for the 5th Annual Keeping Kids in the Game event, presented by Lear Corporation, at Comerica Park.

Autographs for a Cause

In an effort to support the metro-Detroit community, several Tigers players are partnering with the Detroit Tigers Foundation in a program called Autographs for a Cause. Through this program, players will sign baseball cards through the mail in exchange for a donation to the Detroit Tigers Foundation, the club's official charity. All of the funds collected through this program will be donated to charitable organizations supported by the players. At the end of the year, all of the money raised through the program will be matched by the players and donated to their charity of choice. Fans that wish to participate in the Autographs for a Cause Program should send their baseball cards along with check or money order (made payable to the DETROIT TIGERS FOUNDATION), and self-addressed stamped envelope to the following address:

Fans should keep in mind there is some risk involved in putting an item in the mail. Although reasonable precautions will be taken, the Detroit Tigers organization, its players, staff and Foundation are not responsible if an item is lost or damaged. Please allow a minimum of six to eight weeks for your item(s) to be signed and do not send items other than standard issue baseball cards, as they will be returned to you unsigned. In order to ensure proper handling of donations and baseball cards, please note items / donations for each player must be mailed individually and not with items / donations for other players. Furthermore, please note Money Orders with expiration dates of fewer than 90 days will be returned along with unsigned items.

Additionally, please note Autographs for a Cause is a seasonal program that concludes each year at the end of the Major League Baseball regular season. Items that arrive postmarked after September 1 will be returned unsigned as the roster of participating players, required donations and benefiting charitable organizations changes from season to season.

Tip A Tiger for a great cause!

The Detroit Tigers Foundation, in partnership with 101 WRIF, 94.7 WCSX, and Magic 105.1 hosted a special fund-raising event at CJ Mahoney's in Troy. Tigers pitchers Jose Valverde, Octavio Dotel, Duane Below, Joaquin Benoit, Luke Putkonen, and Brayan Villarreal along with outfielder Andy Dirks, and catcher Gerald Laird joined wait staff in serving dinner and drinks to guests at CJ Mahoney's. All proceeds from the fun event benefited the Detroit Tigers Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch charities, as well as Orange Hearts, a charitable organization supported by Joaquin Benoit. The event gave Tigers fans the opportunity to interact with their favorite Tigers players while supporting a great cause!

Hudsonville Summer Extravaganza to benefit the Detroit Tigers Foundation

Baseball fans and ice creamer lovers came together to on the first day of summer to celebrate the partnership of two Michigan favorites: Detroit Tigers Baseball and Hundsonville Ice Cream! At the Hudsonville Summer Extravaganza, The DTE Energy Squad and PAWS greeted guests as Detroit Tigers All Star catcher Alex Avila and Tiger Wives Bobbie Coke and Bree Worth scooped ice cream for the crowd. All donations made during the event benefited the Detroit Tigers Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch Charities. Later on that evening, Hudsonville Creamery presented a check to the Detroit Tigers Foundation during an on-field check pregame ceremony.
