Left-hander Evan Crawford has been optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas and righty Joel Carreno has been recalled. Carreno threw a scoreless ninth while striking out two in Wednesday's 11-5 win over Texas. "We wanted to get another right-handed reliever here," Farrell said. "With today and a predominantly right-handed-hitting team in Texas and the Angels are going to be the same type of lineup, where there's primarily right-handed hitters throughout. That's where we felt another right-handed pitcher was needed. Evan was the guy who was the optionable reliever. It had nothing to do with performance or anything like that." Angels: Speedy Trout
Angels third-base coach Dino Ebel clocked Mike Trout's time to run from first to home at 3.53 seconds on a third inning bunt single Tuesday against the Twins. Ebel has been clocking home-to-first times since he joined Scioscia's coaching staff for the 2006 season. Trout's time was the lowest he has ever recorded. "That's the first one," Ebel said. "Especially from the right side of the plate. It was pretty impressive. He's blessed with speed." Worth noting
On June 28, 2008, Weaver and Jose Arredondo combined to hold the Dodgers hitless, but Weaver took the loss after the Angels fell, 1-0, thanks to two errors in the fifth inning.
