NYM@MIA: Ozzie breaks down Nolasco's rough outing

Ricky Nolasco has fond memories of Turner Field, and he'll look to make another one Thursday as the Marlins and Braves wrap up a two-game set.

Atlanta is where the righty broke the Marlins' single-game strikeout record three years ago, fanning 16 over 7 2/3 innings on Sept. 30, 2009. That day, Nolasco struck out the side in the third, fourth and fifth innings, falling one strikeout shy of the Major League record of 10 in a row.

When Nolasco steps onto the mound, the righty will be looking to break another club record. He is currently tied with Dontrelle Willis for the most wins in franchise history with 68.

In order to take sole possession of the record, though, Nolasco will have to bounce back from his worst outing of the season. Against the Mets, he walked three in the first inning, hit two batters late in the outing and gave up six runs on nine hits in his first loss of the season.

"I wiped that away as soon as I came out of the game," Nolasco said of his rough outing against the Mets. "It won't happen again."

That could be easier said than done, though, as the Braves tout one of the top offenses in the Majors, entering Wednesday ranked second in the National League in runs scored and batting average. Throughout his career, Nolasco has had mixed results against Atlanta, going 5-7 with a 4.80 ERA in 20 career starts.

Stopping the Braves begins with keeping in check leadoff hitter Michael Bourn, who got the day off Wednesday for the first time this season. Bourn is 6-for-25 in his career against Nolasco, but Atlanta's center fielder has been on a roll of late. He has a five-game hit streak, and among NL leadoff hitters, he is at or near the top in batting average (.340), on-base percentage (.399), hits (55) and walks (16).

Marlins: Bonifacio still perfect on the bases
• Center fielder Emilio Bonifacio stole second base uncontested in the fourth inning Wednesday night, and is now a perfect 20-for-20 in steal attempts this season. His 20 stolen bases lead the Majors, and the Marlins' 43 steals are also tops in the league.

• Giancarlo Stanton kept up his hot month at the plate with another home run Wednesday, his seventh in May. Only Carlos Beltran, with eight, has more home runs this month among NL players.

Braves: Beachy aiming to keep up hot start on the mound
• Right-handed pitcher Brandon Beachy (4-1, 1.60 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Braves. He touts the best ERA among NL starters, and is 1-0 with a 4.01 ERA in four career starts against the Marlins.

Worth noting
Of the six teams in the Majors that have at least 11 come-from-behind wins, four reside in the NL East: the Braves, Marlins, Nationals and Mets.
