MIA@PHI: Pettibone goes six innings, gives up one run

The Phillies have already won the series against the Giants but will look to begin their West Coast road trip with a sweep.

Philadelphia will send Jonathan Pettibone to the mound in Wednesday's series finale. Pettibone will be making just the fourth start of his career, but the Phillies are 3-0 in his starts.

After winning six straight games, the Giants have lost two straight to Philadelphia and will look to Barry Zito to get them back in the win column. Zito is 3-1 with a 3.06 ERA this season and is 3-3 with a 4.60 ERA in seven career starts against the Phillies.

The Giants left-hander has been stuck with no-decisions in each of his past two starts, but is coming off a strong start. Against the Dodgers, Zito pitched five innings and allowed just one run.

Giants: Series of reunions
The three-game set between the Phillies and Giants is a reunion for Kevin Frandsen and Hunter Pence. Frandsen played in 174 games for the Giants from 2006-09 while Pence was traded from the Phillies to the Giants last July, helping the Giants win a World Series.

• The Giants activated left-hander Jose Mijares from the restricted list Tuesday. To make room for him on the roster, Jean Machi was optioned to Triple-A Fresno.

Phillies: Halladay update coming
Roy Halladay had his right shoulder examined Tuesday and the Phillies expect to give an update Wednesday.

Halladay has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, but the Phillies are not sure of the extent of the injury or if Halladay will even pitch again this season.

Worth noting
• Chase Utley is hitting .412 in 17 career at-bats against Zito.

• Michael Young has more at-bats, 85, against Zito than any other member of the Phillies and is hitting .235 against the left-hander.

• The Phillies have won their last three contests against the Giants. Comments
