Crowe's AFL season was a strong one

Indians center field prospect earned invite to Spring Training

Center fielder Trevor Crowe, one of the Indians' top prospects, had a great season for the Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League.

The former first-round pick, who was Pac-10 Player of the Year in 2005, hit safely in 19 of 21 games and ranked eighth in the league in batting with a .329 average. He also was fourth in the AFL with a .449 on-base percentage.

Crowe finished with 18 runs scored, 14 RBIs and three stolen bases in earning a spot on the AFL All-Prospects Team.

On Jan. 5, the 23-year-old Oregon native received a non-roster invitation to Major League Spring Training.

Here's how the other Indians performed in various Winter Leagues:

Arizona Fall League

SS Joe Inglett -- Inglett had an outstanding season for the Peoria Javelinas, who went 14-18 and finished last in the West Division. The Sacramento native batted .417 (20-for-48) with nine runs scored, six RBIs and a stolen base.

C Javier Herrera -- Herrera hit .296 with nine runs scored and three RBIs in nine games with the Javelinas.

RHP Kyle Collins -- Collins went 1-1 with one save and a 7.84 ERA in 11 games with the Javelinas.

LHP Reid Santos -- Santos was 0-1 with one save and a 2.53 ERA in 10 games with the Javelinas.

LHP Tony Sipp -- Also pitching for the Javelinas, Sipp recorded one save and a 4.35 ERA in 10 games, holding opponents to a .114 batting average while striking out 16 in just 10 1/3 innings.

LHP Ryan Edell -- Edell went 0-1 with a 3.78 ERA in five starts for the Javelinas. Opponents batted .269 against the Boston native.

RHP Jake Dittler -- The Pittsburgh native was 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA in two starts for the Javelinas.

Hawaii Winter Baseball

2B Rodney Choy Foo -- Choy Foo completed a great season by leading the North Shore Honu to the Hawaii Winter Baseball championship with a 5-1 victory over the Waikiki BeachBoys on Nov. 22. Foo managed just one hit but drove in two key runs for the Honu. He had an RBI groundout in the sixth inning and plated the go-ahead run with a double in the eighth. The 24-year-old batted .286 with four homers, 18 RBIs, 17 runs scored and five stolen bases in 34 regular-season games.

RHP Scott Roehl -- The 25-year-old right-hander went 1-1 with a 5.24 ERA in 16 games with the Honolulu Sharks.

Dominican Winter League

1B Ryan Garko -- The former third-round pick batted .244 with three homers, eight runs scored and six RBIs in 24 games with Aguilas Cibaenas. He did not appear in the playoffs.

C Wyatt Toregas -- Toregas hit .232 with a homer, 13 RBIs and 10 runs scored in 33 games for the Azucareros del Este. The Fairfax, Va., native did not play during the playoffs.

SS Chris De La Cruz -- De La Cruz appeared in one playoff contest for the Aguilas during round-robin play but did not get a plate appearance. The 24-year-old infielder batted .056 (1-for-18) with three runs scored and an RBI in 13 regular-season contests.

2B Argenis Reyes -- Reyes concluded a solid season for the Leones del Escogido by batting .306 (45-for-147) with 18 runs scored, eight RBIs and six stolen bases in 38 games. The Leones did not reach the playoffs.

RHP Fausto Carmona -- Carmona was dominant in two starts during round-robin postseason play for the Aguilas. He went 2-0, allowing seven hits and a walk while fanning 13 over 11 scoreless innings. The 23-year-old did not pitch during the championship series after going 1-1 with a 3.34 ERA in eight regular-season games.

LHP Rafael Perez -- Perez went 1-1 with a 3.11 ERA in seven postseason games for the Gigantes del Cibao, who were eliminated in round-robin play. The southpaw allowed three runs on seven hits and four walks, fanning eight over 8 2/3 innings. He had a solid regular season, going 3-0 with a 1.41 ERA in eight games.

OF Jose Constanza -- Constanza was one of the few bright spots in the playoffs for the Azucareros, who went 1-16 in round-robin play. The 23-year-old batted .256 (10-for-39) with one homer, four runs scored, two RBIs and five stolen bases in 12 postseason games. During the regular season, the 23-year-old batted .235 with nine runs scored, three RBIs and four stolen bases in 27 games.

RHP Luis Valdez -- Valdez went 1-0, allowing two hits in a scoreless inning in two regular-season appearances for the Aguilas Cibaenas.

SS Hector Luna -- Luna hit .200 with five RBIs and three runs scored in four regular-season games for the Aguilas Cibaenas.

Venezuelan Winter League

RHP Albert Vargas -- Vargas went 0-3 with a 10.57 ERA in six outings for Tiburones de La Guaira, which didn't qualify for the playoffs.

RHP Jorge Riera -- Riera finished the season 3-1 with a 3.12 ERA in 13 outings (seven starts) for the Tiburones.

SS Asdrubal Cabrera -- The 20-year-old shortstop batted .214 (3-for-14) with four runs scored and one RBI in four playoff games for the Cardenales. He hit .254 with one homer, 15 runs scored, nine RBIs and four stolen bases in 37 regular-season contests.

RHP Edward Mujica -- The 22-year-old reliever was 0-2 with a 5.59 ERA in 19 regular-season appearances for Caribes de Oriente, which didn't make the playoffs.

C Armando Camacaro -- Camacaro concluded a disappointing season by batting .155 (9-for-58) with one home run, seven RBIs and four runs scored in 27 games for the Caribes.

3B Niuman Romero -- Romero hit .156 (5-for-32) with four runs scored in 19 games for the Caribes.

C Max Ramirez -- Ramirez, who joined the Tiburones in early November, went 2-for-8 with one RBI and a run scored in seven games.

RHP Jeff Harris -- Harris was roughed up in two playoff starts for the Cardenales, going 0-1 with an 8.31 ERA. The 32-year-old right-hander surrendered seven runs -- four earned -- on 10 hits over 4 1/3 innings. During the regular season, he went 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA in 11 games and limited opponents to a .205 batting average.

2B Luis Rivas -- Rivas, who signed a Minor League contract with Cleveland on Jan. 2, batted .290 (7-for-29) with five runs scored and two RBIs in nine playoff games for Navegantes del Magallanes. The 27-year-old had a stellar regular season, batting .337 with 14 runs scored, five RBIs and six stolen bases in 29 games.

CF Franklin Gutierrez -- Gutierrez batted .200 (3-for-15) with one home run, three runs scored and two RBIs in four playoff games for the Leones del Caracas. The 23-year-old hit .282 with two homers, 15 runs scored and 13 RBIs in 35 regular-season contests.

Jason Alfaro -- Alfaro hit .284 with five homers, 22 RBIs and 18 runs scored in 37 games with Leones del Caracas.

Mexican Pacific League

CF Roman Pena -- The 20-year-old managed just one hit in 18 at-bats over 19 regular-season games with the Aguilas de Mexicali, who did not make the playoffs.

CF Ben Francisco -- After a solid start, Francisco ended the playoffs in a 4-for-28 slump for the Tomateros de Culiacan, who were eliminated in a seven-game semifinal series by the Venados de Mazatlan. The 25-year-old outfielder hit .204 with two homers, nine runs scored, six RBIs and two stolen bases in 14 games. The Santa Ana, Calif., native batted .280 with 11 homers, 46 runs scored, 37 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 66 regular-season games.
