Carmona cleared to return Saturday
Right-hander hasn't pitched for Tribe since May 23
ANAHEIM -- It was just a simple side bullpen session, but it was nonetheless watched by the Indians with eager eyes. When the 40-pitch 'pen was over Tuesday at Angel Stadium, Fausto Carmona, nine weeks after landing on the disabled list with a left hip strain, got his official clearance to rejoin the Indians' rotation Saturday against the Twins. "I'm happy to be back," a beaming Carmona said. And the Indians are happy to have him back. Their rotation has been hurting ever since Carmona (4-2, 3.10 ERA in 10 starts) hobbled off the mound in an outing against the Rangers on May 23. Manager Eric Wedge wouldn't speculate on what the corresponding roster move will be Saturday, but it's expected that the Indians will remove Matt Ginter, who made his second spot start Tuesday night against the Angels, from their active roster. "We're playing it day by day in regard to that," Wedge said. "We don't have to do anything until Saturday."
