PHOENIX -- Add Adam Miller to the Indians' growing list of players with minor injuries.

Miller, the Tribe's oft-injured top pitching prospect, was supposed to pitch in Friday's Cactus League game against the Padres but was held back because of soreness in his surgically repaired right middle finger.

"I don't think it's anything to worry about," manager Eric Wedge said, "but we didn't want to push it."

Miller has had trouble with the finger since 2007, when he strained a ligament and missed more than a month at Triple-A Buffalo. Last year, the ligament caused his skin to sag against the baseball and Miller developed a nasty blister. He tried to pitch with it at the outset of the season, but he was shut down in May and eventually had surgery to repair the strain. He didn't pitch again until the Fall Instructional League, where he made eight appearances, including five starts, in the Dominican Winter League.

The Indians expect Miller to compete for the last spot in their bullpen, provided he remains healthy in camp. This latest development isn't a welcome one, but at the moment, it's not considered serious, either. Wedge said he hopes it's simply a product of Miller throwing regularly again at the start of Spring Training.

Miller is far from the only member of the Indians who has had his spring schedule affected by a minor injury woe. Wedge provided updates on the others:

RHP Kerry Wood: After battling lower back soreness, the Tribe closer threw his bullpen session as planned Friday and felt no ill-effects. Wedge wasn't sure when exactly Wood will throw again or when he can be expected in Cactus games.

DH Travis Hafner: Working his way back from right shoulder surgery, Hafner has continued to take batting practice and should be ready for Cactus games by the end of the coming week.

OF Grady Sizemore: Sizemore pulled out of the World Baseball Classic because of a mild left groin strain. He received treatment Saturday and will be evaluated again Sunday.

OF David Dellucci: Dellucci, who slammed the tailgate of his truck on his left thumb early this month, had three stitches removed from the thumb Monday. Wedge said he expects Dellucci to get into Cactus games late in the coming week.

RHP Joe Smith: Smith was out of commission for about a week with a viral infection. He played catch Friday. Wedge said Smith will have to build up his strength before he can start throwing bullpen sessions.

LHP Tony Sipp: Sipp, the relief prospect working his way back from left shoulder tendinitis, threw a live batting practice session Saturday morning and looked good, according to Wedge.
