Overturned play gets Giants out of rocky ninth
Cozart ruled safe at second, but review results in inning-ending double play
SAN FRANCISCO -- It took a replay review for the Giants to escape a four-run ninth inning by the Reds on Sunday.
With the bases loaded and three runs already having scored in the inning, first baseman Adam Duvall fielded Homer Bailey's grounder, stepped on first and threw to second base, where shortstop Brandon Crawford tagged Zack Cozart. Second-base umpire Jeff Kellogg called Cozart safe. Giants manager Bruce Bochy called for a review. After review, the call was overturned and the inning was over.
Bochy is now 15-for-20 in challenge attempts this season.
