A total of 90 finalists have been announced for the campaign, a national initiative that recognizes veterans and military service members and builds upon the commitment of both MLB and ‘PEOPLE’ magazine to honor our country’s heroes.   • Major League Baseball's 2014 Opening Series set for Sydney, Australia

    Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association jointly announced today that the 2014 Championship Season will begin in Sydney, Australia on March 22nd and 23rd, 2014, when the Los Angeles Dodgers will play MLB's Opening Series vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground. The groundbreaking event was announced by the Premier of New South Wales, Barry O'Farrell, at a press conference in Sydney today, which was attended by Tom Nicholson, Director of MLB's Australia & Oceania Office, and Tim Slavin, Chief of Business Affairs and Senior Counsel for the MLBPA.

  • Dodgers sign Anderson, Windle and two other selections from Draft

    The Los Angeles Dodgers today announced the signings of four selections from the 2013 First-Year Player Draft, including their first round pick, Jacksonville (FL) University right-handed pitcher Chris Anderson, and their second-round selection, University of Minnesota left-hander Tom Windle. The club also announced the signings of 12th-rounder Adam Law, a third baseman out of Brigham Young University, and their 26th-round pick Thomas Taylor, a right-handed pitcher from the University of Kansas. Anderson and Windle will attend tonight's 7:10 p.m. game between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks and will be available to the media in the Dodger dugout at 5:00 p.m.

    The Los Angeles Dodgers today recalled outfielder Alex Castellanos and right-handed pitcher Chris Withrow from Triple-A Albuquerque and placed outfielder Scott Van Slyke on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder bursitis and also optioned infielder Justin Sellers to Triple-A Albuquerque.

    The Los Angeles Dodgers today announced the May winners of the Dodger Pride Awards. The Dodger Pride Awards were created in 2008 by General Manager Ned Colletti, and are issued on a monthly basis to the players at each level of the club's minor league system who play the game with a hustling, smart, aggressive style. The players and staff on each respective club vote for the awards.

    The Los Angeles Dodgers today recalled infielder Justin Sellers from Triple-A Albuquerque after the club optioned right-hander Matt Magill to Albuquerque following yesterday's game.
