Indians and media partners support hurricane relief effort

The Cleveland Indians, with the support of media partners WTAM 1100, WEWS-TV5 and FOX SPORTS NET, have set out to raise a minimum of $100,000 for the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts through monetary contributions from the Indians organization, its players and fans...The Indians have scheduled THREE (3) MONETARY COLLECTION DRIVES (September 8-11) in addition to the contributions made from the Indians Players and Organization...WTAM WILLS & COLEMAN: Will broadcast their entire show from the Gateway Plaza at Jacobs Field on TODAY and Friday, September 8-9 from 5-9AM ET...Fans driving downtown for work can make an easy drop-off cash donation by accessing the plaza via Eagle Avenue off either Ontario or East 9th Street during those days/times...Fans making a cash donation will receive a "special thank you gift" from the Indians while supplies last....IN-GAME CASH DONATIONS: The Indians plan to play host to a monetary collection drive inside Jacobs Field during their home games next week September 8-11. The collection drive will be run from the time gates open for each game until the 7th inning in two locations (Sections 157 & 541)...Fans making a cash donation will receive a "special thank you gift" from the Indians while supplies last. IN PARK AUCTION: All proceeds from Saturday's Silent Auction, which normally benefits Cleveland Indians Charities, will go toward the American Red Cross Relief Effort. The auction, located on the main concourse at section 157, will feature an autographed team bat, a game used autographed base and other one of kind Indians memorabilia.

DETROIT SERIES (September 8)

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 @ 4:05 p.m.- ALL KIDS 14 AND UNDER RECEIVE FREE ADMISSION to the Indians vs. Tigers rescheduled 4:05 p.m. game on Thursday, September 8. Gates Open at 3:00 p.m. The rescheduled game is a result of the postponed game on Tuesday, August 30. All Kids 14 and Under will receive a FREE ticket for any seat location in the ballpark (subject to availability). The OFFER IS GOOD DAY OF GAME ONLY AT THE JACOBS FIELD BOX OFFICE. CHILD MUST BE PRESENT to receive the free ticket. Scheduled Starters: RHP Kevin Millwood vs. LHP Nate Robertson.

MINNESOTA SERIES (September 9-11)

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 @ 7:05 p.m.- The Tribe plays host to the Minnesota Twins beginning on Friday, September 9 at 7:05 p.m. Friday night is BIKE NIGHT, featuring a CUSTOM BIKE SHOW on the plaza pre-game presented by Cleveland Harley Davidson. The night will also showcase A SHOW PRIDE IN YOUR TRIBE ride to the game from Cleveland Harley led by WGAR's Jim Mantel. Scheduled Starters: RHP Jake Westbrook vs. LHP Johan Santana.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 @ 7:05 p.m.- The Indians and Twins will also play on Saturday, September 10 at 7:05 p.m. Following the game, a post-game FIREWORKS SHOW will be presented by Medical Mutual. BEN BROUSSARD will make an appearance from 5:30-6:15 in the Jacobs Field Team Shop, signing his new CD plus one other item of choice. Scheduled Starters: RHP Scott Elarton vs. RHP Scott Baker.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 @ 8:09 p.m.- The Indians and Twins conclude their weekend series on national TV as ESPN 2 Sunday Night Baseball will be broadcast at Jacobs Field on Sunday, September 11 at 8:09 p.m. First 20,000 fans will receive an AMERICAN FLAG LAPEL PIN, courtesy of Fifth Third Bank, as the Indians SALUTE OUR PROTECTORS. PLENTY OF TICKETS STILL REMAIN as the $5 ALL TICKET "TRIV TAKES OVER BOX OFFICE" OFFER available until the game is a sellout. Scheduled Starters: LHP Cliff Lee vs. RHP Carlos Silva.

OAKLAND SERIES (September 12-14)

The battle for playoff positioning continues as the Oakland Athletics come to town amidst a wild card race against the Tribe. The Indians play host to the A's in a three-game series Monday thru Wednesday with all three games at 7:05 p.m.

KANSAS CITY SERIES (September 16-18)

The Indians wrap up their 10-Game homestand with a three-game weekend series. It's OHIO LOTTER LUCKY FRIDAY on September 16 at 7:05 p.m., FIREWORKS NIGHT following 7:05 p.m. game on September 17 and FAMILY FUN DAY on September 18- featuring SENIORS STROLL BASES after the game.
