Indians place RHP Rafael Betancourt on the 15-day disabled list
RHP Brian Slocum recalled from AAA Buffalo
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has placed RHP RAFAEL BETANCOURT on the 15-day disabled list with a strain of the right latissimus dorsi muscle. To replace Betancourt on the roster the Indians have recalled RHP BRIAN SLOCUM from AAA Buffalo.

Betancourt left the game of Wednesday, April 19 in Baltimore (0.0+IP, 2H, 2R/ER, HR) in the 6th inning due to injury. So far this year he is 0-0 w/a 6.43 ERA in a team-high 8 relief appearances (7.0IP, 8H, 5ER, 1BB, 6K). This is the third career stint on the Major League disabled list for Rafael. The transaction is retroactive to April 20.

Slocum, 25, has spent the beginning of 2006 at AAA Buffalo where he has no record and a save w/a 1.93 ERA in 5 relief appearances (9.1IP, 5H, 2ER, 1BB, 11K, .156 avg). Slocum, who was the Tribe's 2nd round pick in the 2002 draft out of Villanova, was converted to relief at the end of 2005 and after the season went 2-1 w/a 3.15 ERA in 11 Arizona Fall League relief outings (20.0IP, 14H, 7ER, 19K, .192 avg). Slocum won a Carolina League-high 15 games at A Kinston in 2004. He will be making his debut at the Major League level wearing #54.

The Indians currently have four players on the Major League DL (Sabathia, Cabrera, Miller, Betancourt).
