Indians activate RHP Rafael Betancourt from the 15-day disabled list
RHP Jeremy Guthrie optioned to AAA Buffalo

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians today announced RHP RAFAEL BETANCOURT has been activated from the 15-day disabled list. To allow room on the Major League roster for Rafael the Indians optioned RHP JEREMY GUTHRIE to AAA Buffalo following last night's rainout.

Betancourt has been on the disabled list since April 20th after leaving the game of April 19th at Baltimore with a strain of the right latissimus dorsi muscle. So far this year Rafael is 0-0 w/a 6.43 ERA over 8 relief appearances (7.0IP, 8H, 5ER, 1BB, 6K). Betancourt tossed a scoreless inning on a 1-game rehab assignment at AA Akron on Sunday, May 14.

Guthrie returns to AAA Buffalo after appearing in 6 games in relief with the Indians from April 22-May 9 (0-0, 4.63ERA, 11.2IP, 11H, 6ER). So far at AAA Buffalo this year he has gone 2-0 w/a 1.00ERA in 3 starts (18.0IP, 10H, 2R/ER, 5BB, 12K).

The Indians have one player on the Major League disabled list at present (RHP Matt Miller).
