Indians recall outfielder Franklin Gutierrez from Buffalo; Option right-handed pitcher Mike Koplove to Triple-A Buffalo

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has recalled OF FRANKLIN GUTIERREZ from the AAA Buffalo Bisons. To allow room for Gutierrez on the Major League roster the club has optioned RHP MIKE KOPLOVE to AAA Buffalo.

Gutierrez has spent most of the season at AAA Buffalo where he has hit .341 (44-129) with 7 2B, 4HR & 16 RBI in 30 games. He has also stolen 7 bases and scored 29 runs in the 30 games, hitting mainly in the lead-off spot in the order. At Buffalo he has hit .361 (13-36) off LHP and .387 (12-31) with RISP & his .341 average is currently 4th best in the International League. Franklin was with the Indians from May 6-19 and was 1 for 5 in 4 games. He wears #38.

Koplove appeared in 3 games for the Indians from May 23-30 (0-0, 4.50ERA, 4.0IP, 2ER) after being promoted from AAA Buffalo. He returns to the Bisons where he has gone 2-0 with 3 saves and a 1.00ERA in 17 relief appearances (18.0IP, 15H, 2ER, 8BB, 14K) previously this year.
