Indians promote INF Niuman Romero from Columbus
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has purchased the contract of INF NIUMAN ROMERO from AAA Columbus.

Romero, 24, spent the 2009 campaign between AAA Columbus and AA Akron where he hit .240 (88-367) with 14 2B, 3B, HR, 35RBI and 47RS in 115 combined games between the two levels. The switch-hitting, middle infielder spent 38 games with AA Akron before his promotion to Columbus on July 28th. With the Clippers, he hit .252 (64-252) in 81 games with 27RBI and 34RS, including going 9-for-26 (.346) with 9RS in his last eight games. With Columbus, he appeared in games at all four infield positions (58-SS, 8-3B, 8-2B, 7-1B) and had a fielding % of .956 (14 errors/320 chances). The 6'0" Venezuelan native wears #4 and will make his Major League debut when he appears.

Also, Columbus Clippers manager TOREY LOVULLO will be joining the Indians coaching staff. Lovullo just finished his 4th season as the manager of the Indians Triple A affiliate and is in his 8th season as a manager in the Indians organization. He wears #87.

The Indians Major League roster now consists of 32 players-sixteen (16) pitchers, three (4) catchers, six (7) infielders and five (5) outfielders. The 40-man roster now stands at 39.
