Indians announce 2010 staff alignment for player development system
Holbert Promoted to Kinston; Kubiak to Lake County; Fryman Returns to Mahoning Valley; Tremie to Arizona

CLEVELAND, OH-- The Cleveland Indians & Director of Player Development ROSS ATKINS today announced the remaining staff assignments for the 2010 Player Development System. Today, Atkins appointed AARON HOLBERT Manager at Class-A Kinston, TED KUBIAK Manager at Class-A Lake County, TRAVIS FRYMAN returns as Manager at Short-Season Class-A Mahoning Valley and CHRIS TREMIE Manager of the Rookie Arizona League Indians.

The Indians also announced the field staff assignments for the 2010 season as DAVE HUDGENS (Field Coordinator), JOHNNY GORYL (Advisor, Player Development), DAVE MILLER (Pitching Coordinator), BRUCE FIELDS (Hitting Coordinator), GARY THURMAN (Outfield/Baserunning Coordinator), MINNIE MENDOZA (Latin America Field Coordinator), JAKE BEITING (Strength & Conditioning Coordinator), JAMES QUINLAN (Rehabilitation Coordinator), CHARLIE MAHER (Sports Psychologist) and JULIO RANGEL (Mental Skills Coordinator) will all return to the same positions they held during the 2009 season. In addition to managing the Arizona League team, CHRIS TREMIE will also serve as the Catching Coordinator.

JOEL SKINNER was recently named the Manager of the Akron Aeros. GREG HIBBARD, who has spent the previous two seasons as the Pitching Coach at Kinston, will serve as Skinner's Pitching Coach with the Aeros. JIM RICKON will serve as the coach of the Aeros after spending each of the last three seasons at Lake County. CHAD WOLFE will be the teams Athletic Trainer earning a promotion from Kinston.

Holbert has been promoted to Kinston after managing the Lake County Captains each of the past two seasons. TONY ARNOLD, who served as Holbert's Pitching Coach last year, will again be part of Holbert's staff in 2010. ROUGLAS ODOR will return as a coach at Kinston, while JEREMY HELLER will be the club's Athletic Trainer after being promoted from Lake County.

Kubiak will be the Manager at Lake County after serving as the Manager of the Arizona League Indians last year. MICKEY CALLAWAY joins the Indians organization and will be Kubiak's Pitching Coach. This marks Callaway's debut as a coach after retiring from baseball last year. Callaway, 34, comes to Lake County after spending the last five seasons pitching in Korea and Taiwan. Originally a seventh round selection by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 1996 June Draft, he made his Major League Debut in 1999 and spent parts of five seasons in the Majors with the Devil Rays, Texas Rangers and Anaheim Angels compiling a 4-11 record with a 6.27 ERA in 40 games/20 starts at the Major League level. He was named the Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2001 for Tampa Bay and in 2002 for Anaheim. PHIL CLARK will serve as a coach on Kubiak's staff after serving as a coach at Mahoning Valley last year. ISSEI KAMADA will be the Captains Athletic Trainer after holding the same position at Mahoning Valley in 2009.

Fryman will return to Mahoning Valley for the third consecutive season. Last year under Fryman, the Scrappers captured the Pinckney Division title before losing to Staten Island in the New York-Penn League Championship. KEN ROWE also returns as the club's Pitching Coach. Joining Fryman's staff this year as a coach will be DENNIS MALAVE, who spent the 2009 season with the Rookie Arizona League Indians.

Tremie will manage the Arizona League Indians in addition to assuming the role of Catching Coordinator. Tremie joins the AZL Indians after spending the last two seasons as the Manager at Kinston. JEFF HARRIS will again serve as the club's Pitching Coach while ANTHONY MEDRANO will return as a coach for the second straight year. TEDDY BLACKWELL also returns as the team's Athletic Trainer.
