Indians recall OF Michael Brantley from AAA Columbus

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has recalled OF MICHAEL BRANTLEY from AAA Columbus. To make room on the active roster, RHP JENSEN LEWIS was optioned to AAA Columbus.

Brantley begins his third stint with the Indians this year. He began the season on the Indians Opening Day roster before being optioned on April 18th and was with the Tribe most recently from July 4-26th. This year at Columbus he has hit .319 (87-273) with 54 runs scored, 13 doubles, 2 triples, 4HR and 29RBI in 67 games. He currently ranks 2nd in the International League in average (.319). Since being optioned to Columbus on July 27th he has batted .344 (11-32) with 4 doubles, a home run and 3RBI in 8 games. In two stints with Cleveland this year he has hit .157 (16-102) with 12 runs scored, 2 doubles, a home run and 7RBI in 26 games. He wears #23.

Lewis who was recalled for the 4th time this year on July 30th has gone 3-2 with a 3.86ERA in 25 relief appearances for Cleveland (25.2IP, 24H, 11R/ER, 28BB, 27K).

The Indians 25-man roster stands at 25 and the 40-man roster is at 39 with the addition of INF DREW SUTTON earlier today.
