DENVER - In a pre-game ceremony at Coors Field on Sunday, September 18, the Colorado Rockies named Marcela de la Mar as the Ninth Annual Hispanic Adult Leadership Award winner for her work with the Mexican Cultural Center. Marcela is the Director of Education and Cultural Affairs at the Consulate General of Mexico and outside of her duties at the consulate, Marcela is one of the founders of the Mexican Cultural Center here in Denver.

Over the past 12 years she has dedicated herself to the development of the Center, through active fundraising and programming initiatives. Marcela's driving passion is to bring Mexican culture to America as a way to improve the perceptions of Mexican Americans and in turn, improve their own cultural pride. Marcela was also one of the founding members of Centro San Juan Diego's Advisory Board and has been instrumental in developing its "Plaza Comunitaria" initiative program, a program for adults who have immigrated from Mexico and wish to complete their general education in the United States.

At the ceremony, all six finalists for the honor were introduced. Along with Marcela were finalists Pilar Cook, Katie Garcia, Mary Ann Mosquera, Susana Osorio and Abraham Torres. Attached is a list of the 6 award finalists and their contributions to the community.
