Bullpen session close for Borowski
Injured closer joins Indians teammates at Yankee Stadium

NEW YORK -- Joe Borowski isn't ready to rejoin the Indians' active roster, but he did join his teammates in the Bronx. Borowski has been playing catch for the past week as he recovers from the right triceps strain that landed him on the 15-day disabled list on April 15. On Thursday, he will progress to his first bullpen session. Manager Eric Wedge couldn't offer a specific timetable for Borowski's return, though he did say that any rehab stint the closer would make in the Minors would likely be brief. "If he feels good and strong," Wedge said, "it won't take too much time. He's not too far away. But I want him to get further into it before I start speculating [on a return date]." Wedge has already made it clear that when Borowski, who was 2-for-4 in save situations and had an 18.00 ERA this season, returns, he'll resume his duties as the Tribe's closer. Rafael Betancourt has been filling in at that spot and was 2-for-3 in save opportunities entering play on Tuesday.
