The teams will engage in a charity game at 7:05 p.m. MST on Wednesday, St. Patrick's Day, at Goodyear Ballpark, and donate all proceeds -- including concessions, merchandise and parking -- to the Southwest Valley Family YMCA.
"The proceeds generated from this game will directly benefit families and youth with vital programs and services they need while enduring the challenges they are facing," said Ron Sites, Southwest Valley Family YMCA's executive director, in a statement. "Programs like child care, youth obesity, aquatics, youth sports, teen programs and family facility memberships are just a few that are supported through funding we receive from great organizations like the Reds, Indians and city of Goodyear."
The event will include several festive elements for the holiday including green beer at the concession stands, Irish music playing throughout the game, green bases pregame and green Reds hats.
Youngsters from the YMCA and representatives from the two clubs, including Indians manager Manny Acta and Reds manager Dusty Baker, will participate in pregame ceremonies.
The Goodyear Ballpark opened last spring when the Indians moved into the new facility, which they now share with the Reds, who made the move from the Grapefruit League this spring.
