Hannahan signs Minors deal with Indians
By Jordan Bastian / MLB.com
Cleveland currently has an opening at the hot corner, so Hannahan will likely be thrown into the mix as a candidate for third base or a utility role off the bench. The Indians also reportedly have interest in free-agent third baseman Nick Punto. Edwin Encarnacion -- non-tendered by the A's on Thursday -- might also draw interest from the Tribe.
Hannahan, 30, spent all of the 2010 season at Triple-A, splitting the year between Tacoma (Mariners) and Pawtucket (Red Sox). Over 96 games, he hit .237 with a .340 on-base percentage, belting nine home runs and collecting 45 RBIs.
Hannahan has spent parts of four seasons in the Majors between tours with the Tigers, A's and Mariners. The left-handed hitter has a career .224 average and a .311 on-base percentage. The bulk of his time has been spent at third base (251 games), where he has a career .969 fielding percentage.
