Home-plate official struck in face mask by Sizemore foul bunt

In the top of the second, Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner threw a two-seam fastball that Indians center fielder Grady Sizemore bunted foul. The ball bounced directly into Wendelstedt's mask. He finished out the top half of the inning but was unable to continue.
A short delay followed Cleveland's half of the second as Wendelstedt met with a trainer. Second-base umpire Jerry Layne moved behind the plate.

When play resumed, the game was called by a three-man crew: Layne at home, Brian Knight at first and Bob Davidson at third.
The realignment played a key role in the sixth inning, when the Indians' Orlando Cabrera chopped a grounder down the third-base line. Layne ruled the ball fair from his post behind the plate, and Cabrera wound up with a double, pushing lead runner Michael Brantley to third.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy came out to tell his side of the story -- that the ball landed foul -- to no avail. Asdrubal Cabrera plated Brantley on a groundout, the lone blemish on Bumgarner's resume in San Francisco's 3-1 win.
