Cleveland Indians, FirstMerit Bank renew 'Littlest Fans' partnership

Babies born at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital, University Hospitals receive Indians onesie, stuffed FirstMerit ‘Franklin,’ first Indians

Cleveland, OH—The Cleveland Indians remain committed to the youth of Northeast Ohio, and with FirstMerit Bank have renewed their “Littlest Fans” program for the 2013 season.

Families with babies born at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital and University Hospitals during the 2013 Cleveland Indians season will receive a gift bag as part of the program. The package includes an Indians onesie for the newborn, a plush FirstMerit Franklin Moose and a unique password for the child’s family to redeem a ticket offer at Indians.com for the baby’s first Tribe game.

“For 165 years, FirstMerit has been committed to helping families.  We understand the importance of recreation and getting started at a young age, and we’re proud to be a part of this program,” said JULIE C. TUTKOVICS, FirstMerit’s Chief Marketing Officer.

The program is just one part of the Indians’ family-focused initiatives for 2013. In addition to 16 kids-themed event days, the team has reduced concessions prices on many items, including beer, now at $4, and hot dogs, now $3 every day. Soda refills now will cost $2 and there will be 15 $1 hot dog nights presented by Sugardale, an increase from 9 last season.

Fireworks will return on 16 occasions, including the return of the award-winning Rock N’ Blast two-night spectacular, while fan giveaways have increased to 20 this season, up from 11 in 2012.

Plus, the Indians Kids Clubhouse will return and again feature the Rookie Suite (geared toward kids ages 6 and under) and Slugger’s Sandlot (for grade-school children). The Kids Clubhouse also features a child-friendly menu at family-friendly prices, and this year will be complemented by a Family Social Suite for parents active in social media.
