Cleveland, OH-Terry Francona was named the 2013 American League Manager of the Year on Tuesday night, after leading the Cleveland Indians to 92 wins and a spot in the Postseason.
Now, the Indians organization wants to identify other mentors in Northeast Ohio making a difference in the community with their leadership.
The Indians are asking fans to submit nominations for the Cleveland Indians Mentor of the Year Award, and it's simple to do so: Fans should visit Indians.com/Mentors and fill out the form with information about their nominees. Finalists will be notified at a later date.
Here is your opportunity to nominate an individual from any walk of life: Teachers, coaches, volunteers, CEOs, community activists, politicians and anyone else is eligible. The key criteria: They must be making a difference in other people's lives and working to make Northeast Ohio a better place through leadership efforts.
Finalists will have the opportunity to visit Progressive Field and tell us on camera why they're great leaders, and fans then will vote on the winner. The winner and the person who nominated him or her will have the opportunity to meet our Manager of the Year, Terry Francona, during Tribe Fest weekend, Jan. 24-26 at Progressive Field.
