Indians prospects Jose Ramirez and Jesus Aguilar combined for six hits, three home runs and six runs Tuesday as Triple-A Columbus routed Charlotte, 14-2.
Ramirez, the Indians' No. 7 prospect, went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, two walks and an RBI. Aguilar, the club's No. 16 prospect, finished the game 3-for-5 with two home runs, three runs, a walk and six RBIs, matching his career high. Carlos Moncrief, the Tribe's No. 9 prospect, also collected three hits.
The beneficiary of the Clippers' offensive explosion was right-hander Zach McAllister, who was making a rehab start as he recovers from a lower back strain. He limited the Knights to two runs on three hits, struck out six batters and walked two in six innings.
Ramirez played left field Tuesday, his first career game at the position. He has played five positions this season as the Indians try to increase his flexibility and make it easier to find a spot for him in the Major League lineup in time. Ramirez is on a six-game hitting streak and is hitting .311 in 17 games since returning to Columbus after a stint with the Indians in May.
Aguilar has had two short stints in the Major Leagues in the last month, the latest ending last weekend when Carlos Santana returned from the disabled list. In three games since returning to Columbus on Sunday, Aguilar has homered three times.
In 44 games with Columbus this season, Aguilar is hitting .300/.395/.556 with 10 home runs.
