Right-hander Dylan Baker, the Indians' No. 14 prospect, returned from the disabled list Tuesday to make a rehab start with the rookie-level Indians in the Arizona League. He threw one inning and the Indians defeated the Cubs, 6-4.
Baker began the season with Class A Advanced Carolina and made one start for the Mudcats. He threw six perfect innings on April 8 against Frederick, but suffered a broken ankle before he could make another start.
Baker returned to the mound Tuesday, three months after his first start of the season. He struck out three batters and surrendered one home run in the brief outing.
The Indians selected Baker in the fifth round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. Baker spent his first full professional season with Class A Lake County, where he went 7-6 with a 3.63 ERA. He struck out 117 batters and walked 62 in 143 2/3 innings.
