Reds power past Cubs with trio of homers
With the exception of one inning, Bronson Arroyo was solid in six frames, and he was backed by a trio of home runs as the Reds beat the Cubs, 7-4, at Great American Ball Park on Friday.

Baker hopes Cozart has turned corner
After a rocky May at the plate, Zack Cozart broke through on Wednesday against the Mets, going 4-for-5. That game gave Cozart a four-game hitting streak, which he extended to five games with a single in his first at-bat on Friday against the Cubs, and Dusty Baker believes the shortstop may be turning a corner.

Parra activated early but feels ready to play
Fresh off a trio of rehab starts for Double-A Pensacola, Reds reliever Manny Parra was back in Cincinnati before moving on to continue his rehab assignment. Plans changed, though, when the Reds put fellow left-handed reliever Sean Marshall on the disabled list on Friday, and Parra received a call that he was to stay in Cincinnati.

Sculptor Tsuchiya finishing up Morgan statue
Tom Tsuchiya is the sculptor responsible for the statues of Joe Nuxhall, Ernie Lombardi and several others at Great American Ball Park. On Wednesday, Tsuchiya previewed his latest creation, a statue of former Reds second baseman and Hall of Famer Joe Morgan, which will be unveiled at the park later this summer.

Marshall sent to DL again with shoulder issue
Reds reliever Sean Marshall was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a sprained left shoulder. The same shoulder put the 30-year-old lefty on the 15-day disabled list in April after pitching in just one game.

Marshall unavailable with left shoulder discomfort
After Wednesday's game, Reds manager Dusty Baker revealed that Sean Marshall wasn't available because of some possible inflammation in the 30-year-old left-hander's throwing shoulder. Marshall spent more than two weeks in April on the disabled list with left shoulder tendinitis.

Ball bounces Reds' way for sweep of Mets
Zack Cozart had a career-high four hits and Brandon Phillips drove in two runs -- including the game-winner on an odd RBI double in the top of the ninth -- in a 7-4 Reds victory over the Mets on Wednesday. Cincinnati swept the three-game series.

Cleanup hitter Phillips raking in the RBIs
A relatively unconventional cleanup hitter, Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips has spent much time lately at or near the top of the National League leaderboard in RBIs. Entering play Wednesday, Phillips shared the lead with Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki with 38.

Reds center fielder Shin-Soo Choo has been warmly welcomed at Citi Field throughout this week's three-game series vs. the Mets. New York has the nation's second-largest Korean population, with many living near the stadium in the Flushing section on Queens.

Bruce stays even-keeled through streaks, slumps
Reds right fielder Jay Bruce refuses to let his emotions ebb and flow like his streaks and slumps. Bruce is in the midst of one of his serious hot stretches at the plate but avoids even the hint of giddiness.

Chapman goes to the stretch to end slump
When closer Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect ninth inning for his ninth save in Monday's 4-3 Reds win over the Mets, he did something a little unusual. Chapman ditched his usual windup and threw all 11 pitches from the stretch position even with no one on base.

Harvey takes on Latos in a matchup of unbeatens
Matt Harvey will go for his sixth win on Wednesday in the finale of a three-game series against Cincinnati at Citi Field. Harvey is one of three pitchers in the National League who has thrown at least 30 innings without a loss. Mat Latos is also in that group and will start for the Reds as he looks for his fifth win.

With Cueto back, steadily rolling Reds are even better

And though Johnny Cueto didn't look much like the man who was a Cy Young candidate a year ago, on this night it didn't matter.
