Joe Borowski gave up a grand slam in the ninth inning, his first blown save of the season. The Tribe had taken a 4-2 lead in the top of the inning, keyed by Victor Martinez, who was back in the lineup after an injury. He hit an RBI double to tie it and Jhonny Peralta added another.
